- Um, taking the perspective of a pagan, a psych minor, a sexual abuse
- survivor and generally something that qualifies in the anthropological
- sense as a human, I just wanted to add a few cents here.
-
- This sort of thing touches on a lot of issues (like other things don't,
- I mean, I used to think I LIKED the concept of inter-connectedness, and
- now I'm really getting tired of the damn thing because you can't think about
- ONE thing without thinking about it ALL-oh, never mind.)
-
- The things that I want to bring up related to THIs issue is that
- for years there have been these people called "Christian Counselors,"
- who counsel about everything from relationships and losses to abuse
- and rape from a Christian perspective. Now, the point here is that
- there is a LOT of money to be made from psychotherapy, as seen in
- various other stroke your inner child and give it a cookie operations
- that have been going on recently. Now satanic cult lunacy seems to
- be the next most profitable adventure to come down the pike. Who
- better to counsel than a christian counselor? I looked them up
- in our local phone book, and surprise, half of them didn't have
- any initials by their name.
-
- As to the validity, who is to say? I won't, why be wrong when I can
- be vague and still be credible? However, I don't think it's wrong
- to say that any psychotherpist worth its salt could turn the true
- horror that someone has experienced and label it as the work of,
- or experience with cults. We simply have too much symbolism embedded
- in our collective unconscious, related to the devil, etc, to avoid
- that threat.
-
- But, um, I don't think there are too many reputable therapists out
- there claiming that satanic abuse is valid. If there are, I guess
- I missed it, sorry.
-
- The only thing sad about this, to me, is that satanic cults cut the
- fringe of the unmainstream religions. I don't have to tell anyone
- here that. I think that what needs to be addressed is how to make
- the leap of logic from"look at all the satanic cult abuse" to,
- "let's kill all those pagan, ungodly, commie weirdo freaks" UNlogical.
-
- Did any of that malke sense?
-
- I know I didn't pass the past threads through my own little needle,
- bu that was MY cut on things....
