  15. Um, taking the perspective of a pagan, a psych minor, a sexual abuse
  16. survivor and generally something that qualifies in the anthropological
  17. sense as a human, I just wanted to add a few cents here.

  19. This sort of thing touches on a lot of issues (like other things don't,
  20. I mean, I used to think I LIKED the concept of inter-connectedness, and
  21. now I'm really getting tired of the damn thing because you can't think about
  22. ONE thing without thinking about it ALL-oh, never mind.)

  24. The things that I want to bring up related to THIs issue is that
  25. for years there have been these people called "Christian Counselors,"
  26. who counsel about everything from relationships and losses to abuse
  27. and rape from a Christian perspective.  Now, the point here is that
  28. there is a LOT of money to be made from psychotherapy, as seen in
  29. various other stroke your inner child and give it a cookie operations
  30. that have been going on recently.  Now satanic cult lunacy seems to
  31. be the next most profitable adventure to come down the pike. Who 
  32. better to counsel than a christian counselor?  I looked them up
  33. in our local phone book, and surprise, half of them didn't have
  34. any initials by their name.

  36. As to the validity, who is to say? I won't, why be wrong when I can
  37. be vague and still be credible?  However, I don't think it's wrong
  38. to say that any psychotherpist worth its salt could turn the true
  39. horror that someone has experienced and label it as the work of, 
  40. or experience with cults.  We simply have too much symbolism embedded
  41. in our collective unconscious, related to the devil, etc, to avoid
  42. that threat.

  44. But, um, I don't think there are too many reputable therapists out
  45. there claiming that satanic abuse is valid. If there are, I guess
  46. I missed it, sorry.

  48. The only thing sad about this, to me, is that satanic cults cut the
  49. fringe of the unmainstream religions. I don't have to tell anyone
  50. here that.  I think that what needs to be addressed is how to make
  51. the leap of logic from"look at all the satanic cult abuse" to, 
  52. "let's kill all those pagan, ungodly, commie weirdo freaks" UNlogical.
