  12. ....and go see "Lorenzo's Oil".  I thought it was a powerful, well-made
  13. film that resonated strongly with my experiences around my illness.  I
  14. found it inspiring watching others' clarity about pursuit of a cure,
  15. rather than accepting the current limitations of knowledge.

  19. One thing that stood out as different between ALD and CFS or Lyme,
  20. other than the progress and extent of the disease, was the intake and
  21. diagnostic process.  There was almost none of the "he's
  22. {malingering|depressed|making this up}" stuff that most of us have had
  23. to go through.  There was no doubt that the boy was sick and that
  24. action had to be taken.  I _still_ find myself slipping into the
  25. denial pattern: "I don't really have this"; "I'm just imagining that I
  26. feel this way, I don't, really"; "if you just ignore it it will go
  27. away".
