  19. Sir: Here is a short prayer to Lord Maha Vishnu, relaxing on Sesha.
  20. It is remarkable for the numerous other gods that are mentioned in
  21. it. I do not know the original source but have seen it in Sanskrith
  22. for a long, long time (from childhood) in a pooja portrait called
  23. "Anantha Sayanam" in my hometown, Thiru Anantha Puram, (British
  24. called it Trivandrum). As many netters may be aware, one of the most
  25. beautiful temples of India, the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple is
  26. located there. My amma and appa made me recite it as a little boy and
  27. it has been part of me ever since. So, here goes:

  29. "SREE KRISHNAM, KSHETRA PAALAM, DWAJA BALI SAHITHAM, BHOOTHA NAATHAM,
  30. NARASIMHAM, VYAASAM, SHAMBHUM, GANESHAM, RAGHUVARAMANUJAM JANAKEEM
  31. VAYU PUTHRAM, VISHWAKSENAM, SUPARNAM, SURAMUNI, KAMALA, BHOOMI,
  32. BRAHMAADI SEVYAM, VANDE SHREE PADMANABHAM, PARAMA PADA MAHO,
  33. PANNAGA BHOGA SHAAYIM"

  35. The commas have been added by me to indicate pauses and to improve
  36. readability for the first time reader. Also, I am no Sanskrith
  37. scholar, but I believe the song says, "Salutations Sree Padmanabha,
  38. the one who is resting on the big snake, one who is
  39. accompanied and worshipped by Sree Krishna, Kshetra Paal....."
  40. Shall truly appreciate a more correct translation and knowledge of
  41. original source of the poem.

  44. single one of these divine beings shown in it.
