  12. I haven't read any responses on this thread yet where anyone does what I
  13. sometimes do.

  15. For harmonics ala Billy Gibbons (ZZTop) I usually choke up and use my thumb
  16. like everyone else but when I want to hit definite harmonics and not just
  17. random harmonics I do something different.

  19. I hold the pick between my thumb and middle finger leaving my index finger
  20. free.  I then put my index finger down where the harmonic will ring and pck
  21. with my thumb and middle finger.  I usually only do the 2nd harmonic with
  22. this technique because it gets too hard otherwise.

  24. The trick is to play a line with your left hand and instead of picking
  25. regularly you hit the 2nd harmonic.  Here's an example:

  28. 2nd fret         14th fret
  29. 5th fret         17th fret
  30. 7th fret         19th fret
