- I made a number of modifications to my trusty old JC120 in my quest for a more
- meaty tone. Some electrical (effects loop, new speakers) and some physical
- (took hand tools to it to turn it into a head that sits atop said new
- speakers). I am willing to share information I gained with other 120
- users/owner/loathers.
- Best thing to do is to take out the speakers and mount them in sealed boxes. I
- myself bought an old Marshall 4x12 w/Celestions for killer tone, but afterwards
- built enclosures for my old speakers. I intended to use them for practice PA
- speakers but plugged them back into my 120 (head now) on a lark. What a
- sound!! First off, more meat/balls/wood/low mids than I ever got from the
- same components before. Secondly, you have really got to hear that
- Chorus/Vibrato in stereo!! Open back speakers just don't cut it in the meat
- dept at high volumes.
