- BTW, I built the Tube Sound Fuzz which appears in Electronic Prijects for
- Musicians by Craig Anderton. I really like the sound hovever I am
- contemplating an improved design. First off, it clips on the negative swing
- earlier/harder than the positive swing. Asymmetrical distortion can be
- non-musical but in this case it is not. Secondly, in its printed config, it
- has too much bass response (dubbed "flub" by my amp building friend Jim
- Kelley). This gives it a neat 60's Norman Greenbaum kind of tone but really
- sucks for low Hendrix/VanHalen stuff. Finally, the intensity control has a
- dramatic affect on the output level. This is not baffling, simply
- inconvenient. Especially if you do as I did and wire the lead/rhythm switch as
- a foot switch to punch in for that screaming solo. If you were to do this, you
- increase from 10 to about 200 in gain and run the risk of blowing input stages
- on your amp. All three of these things are soluble and I might get around to
- prototyping an improved circuit. If anyone is interested in the results, let
- me know as it will affect my motivation in making the improvements.
