I figured I might just give some of my own input on the tuner thing going on here.
I own two electronic tuners. One is a Justina II quartz (meter face) and the other is a Korg (LED face). I tend to prefer the Justina over the Korg as the Justina II has mhz settings right on the face. Meaning you can get an
Eb (b being flat) tuning at a good 430 mhz level or any other odd tunings you may have make it easier also for accuracy. It also has a lighted face for dark areas so there is no worries there.
The Korg is nice for standard 440 mhz tuning, but then again this can be done just as easily on the Justina, so why the Korg? Well the Korg also has additional notes to tune to (at 440) for odd tunings. Most tuners, i believe, have an E,A,D,G,B,E switch format, whereas the Korg also give you C and F
again, for any odd type tunings. Also if you need a string tuned to a F#, Fb, C# or Cb it is done A LOT easier by plugging into this.
I do not find either, (or any) electronic tuner good for the octave tuned strings on a 12-string though. Any input on this would be welcome and appreciated. As this goes, I usually use the tuner to tune the regular strings an the high B and E strings and proceed to tune the octave strings by ear with the 7th/8th fret area octaves. Works rather well for me; however, an untrained ear may find this difficult. I would appreciate any 12-srting information anyone out there may have in any aspect.
As far as tuning acoustic guitars, (one post said he had a problem with this when you can't plug in. Background noise etc..) I usually lay my guitar face (soundhole) up in my lap, place the tuner on the face right by the soundhole and proceed to tune it up. Works very good for me (open or 12th fret hamonics). I hope that helps some.
Now for the real ditty... THAT CIGARETTE POST. (What a comedian that guy is!!!) As far as that goes, I do not smoke, so I must be lacking something in my sound????? Darn it! I do; however, hang my sunglasses and interwind extra guitar picks in the area above my lock nuts (among other things I have hung there, but we won't get into that, but I'm sure a lot of guitarists are aware of the fact it does make a nice *garment* hanger or just a hanger in general.) Maybe this gives me some better soundage to
be witnessed by the lobes protruding from the melon BAHHHHHHHHH-DEE!
