Well, what I was mostly doing was not so much defending Jung (is that the right name? I forgot to check) as trying to explain his thoughts on his behalf...
It is difficult to quit sometimes when you are being beat. But there is a
difference between losing to a superior opponent which you could beat with a
little bit of money, practice, and observation, and losing to a Bison player
who pulls of torpedo after torpedo. Why bother spending $$$ to practice
against this? It's not cost-effective to spend so much on the most difficult
trick in the game, one you are only rarely going to face anyhow, either facing
the computer or facing Bisons (since experienced Bisons seem to drop the
torpedo-torpedo-torpedo trick in favor of more intelligent and frankly, less
boring tactics.)
Maybe Bison indeed is within his rights to torp-torp-torp. But sensibly, its
a hollow victory. What, really, is the fun in torping to death the unskilled
to medium-skilled players? You might as well go out and shovel the snow in
the arcade parking lot, the same hand motions are involved, and you'd be doing
