  20. I got the point, but actually, Karl Lagerfeldt was an established
  21. designer in his own name when he got a chance with Chanel. Chanel is of
  22. course an even bigger name, and K.L. being a kind of fashion scholar
  23. seems to enjoy doing pastishes of the later Chanel styles.

  25. Actually, I think Karl Lagerfeldt and Yves Saint Laurent entered the
  26. world of high fashion at the same time, taking part in some kind of
  27. design competition for the youth. Yves won and Karl came second. I
  28. suppose that order has remained.
