- Rain rain go away... I have been looking for a good men's cloak for,
- I think, years. Does anyone have a thought about where to find one
- in the San Francisco area, or by mail-order? (I did find a cloak on
- Haight St. a few months ago that looked to have been quite dashing -
- long long ago when it was new. It was unfortunately not in good
- shape.)
-
- Is a cloak a practical garment, or am I just a romantic?
-
- And as long as I'm trying to stay dry: a friend has a jacket that
- his brother bought in Britain long ago. The jacket shell is some
- sort of waxed fabric that is a bit smooth and shiny, like leather,
- and is water-repellant. I am interested because I like the look but
- I'm too much of a veggie to buy a genuine skin-of-cow jacket. I once
- called a dozen stores looking for something similar; a couple of
- them had Australian "oilskins", but that turned out to be more like
- a canvas soaked in oil, dull in color rather than shiny. Not as
- aesthetic. Anyone know about oiled/waxed fabrics? And perhaps
- where I might find a jacket like the one in question?
