- Eons (well, at least twelve years) ago, I saw a PBS dramatization of a
- Wodehouse story which ended with a chararter being chased by a mob.
- They run into a house where someone is doing a crossword, and the
- dialog that ensues is;
-
- "What is a 9 letter word for an implement used in the pusuit
- of agriculture?"
-
- "Pitchfork. And that's not all it's used in pursuit of!!"
-
- Does anyone know the name of the story?
-
- Re Jeeves & Wooster;
-
- My favorite part of the J&W presentations are what goes on in the
- background in Bertie's club. One episode had them playing cricket
- using a fireplace shovel as the bat!!
-
- I can swear I've read the story about J&W going to N.Y. The ending I
- recall is completely different (Aunt Agatha turns out to have been an
- old music hall singer). I was shocked by the Jeeves' behavior in the
- last story of the recent series (beaning a cop), and can't help
- wondering if that story hadn't been tampered with as well!
-
- I agree, that Bertie is played well (an utter boob), but Jeeves could
- have been more rigid!
