- Hi Wodehousemates:
-
- I notice that in all the past discussions my "favorite " characters
- have not been mentioned. I allude to the Duke of Dunstable and
- Percy Pilbeam.
-
- Dunstable has the habit of imposing himself on Lord Emsworth's hospitality.
- He is frequently an unwelcome guest at Blandings and usually ends up turning
- the place upside down. Lady Constance (am I right??) looks favorably on him
- so he gets away with his antics.
-
- Percy Pilbeam, with his marcelled hair, brilliantine and all, is a despicable
- character who again weasels his way into households and tries to get his hands
- on some valuable or other. He ultimately is foiled, but until then it is laugh
- after laugh.
-
- It is some time since I read any book with Pilbeam in it. Does anybody remember
- any titles?
