- Yes it is a Mulliner story. The young author who moves in is a distant
- cousin called James Rodman. James inherits the cottage but there are strings
- attached and from a writer of mystery tales, he turns to mushy romance themes,
- all under the influence of the house and all but proposes to a girl he meets
- there (Rose Maynard) and a dog is his unlikely saviour!
