  16. Officially and from a well steeped tradition a sig is unwarlordable if it is
  17. four lines or less long (ie. inews friendly) and is less than 80 columns wide. 
  18. If it meets those criterion it really has no business showing up here and
  19. boring us all with its presence.

  21. My name has had the unfortunate coincidence of becoming associated with this
  22. standard as I am seen as one of the last of the stuffy, party-pooping Old
  23. Guard that still remembers this rule. I do not poach under the four line limit,
  24. and in the past nagged others when they did, since sending /etc/termcap was
  25. too succinct of a comment on their lack of grace to be understood.

  27. But as for the fresh rakes, I'm afraid they're simply without standards
  28. and poach freely, with the unsurprising result that their shows are
  29. simply not up to snuff. They seem to want to bring the most tediously dull
  30. sigs to everyone's attention, more for the apparently for the effect of seeing
  31. their own names than actually amusing their audience (Or to be t.b-ish,
  32. "How do we do it? VOLUME!").

  34. So no, currently your sig CAN be flamed if it's under the four line limit.
  35. But it will be by poseurs of no distinction, and in the most amateurish way.
  36. Send them mail from Dick Hertz --they can be amusing to toy with briefly.
