  33. Weeeeeeell...I don't know what to say about this, apart from stating the
  34. obvious, which is just to mechanically list out which character is used
  35. to make which part of the border. ("This border uses slashes as a slanting
  36. internal separator, hashes for the top and right edge, at-signs for..."
  37. You get the idea.)

  39. It is a fine example of the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink school of .sig
  40. borders (hereafter abbreviated as EBTKSSOSB), though.

  42. What I'd really like to do is to write a full review of .sig borders in
  43. general, but...no. There's no way to ever have a full review of bad .sigs.
  44. There clueless among us will never cease to invent new types, and reach new
  45. heights, of badness. Any review will at best be a sampling, nothing more,
  46. and for any one example used in the review, a hundred or more will, sadly,
  47. have to be left on the cutting room floor (so to speak), for lack of space
  48. to include them, and lack of time on the part of the reviewer.

  50. My "research" (if you want to call it that) on .sig borders is getting out
  51. of hand. I'm accumulating raw data faster that I can put it in some sort
  52. of order and add commentary to it. (The accumulating of data--research--
  53. consists of reading a.f.w. and saving every fifth post or so. At least I
  54. don't have to go searching through lots of newsgroups myself; the warlorders
  55. bring the .sigs to me. Thanks, everyone. You'll get credit where it is due.)

  59. But a PROFESSIONAL review, now...hmmm. Well, I've just started on this,
  60. and I don't actually do .sig border reviews for a living, but...

  62. It's up to a.f.w. to decide if I'm a "professional". I myself don't think so,
  63. not at the moment anyway, especially since my published works on the subject
  64. consist of nothing more than one brief review, plus the occasional comment
  65. as a follow-up.

  92. Border abuse? BORDER ABUSE!? See for yourself; just take a good close look!

  94. I admit, I'm a purist. If you're going to have borders at all (and I'm
  95. not necessarily recommending nor approving their use), keep them pure.
  96. Mixing of text, barphics, or whatever with borders is a no-no in my book.
