- Besides, I can't recall Tolkien using the saying in LOTR. The closest
- I can recall is Bilbo's poem about Aragorn, which begins "All that is
- gold does not glitter", which turns the saying on its head; Bilbo's
- line asserts that something valuable may appear plain, whereas the
- proverb asserts that something showy may be worthless.
