- The convictions at the Nuremburg trials were based on the premiss that
- each member of society, including those in the armed forces, were required
- to exercise due judgement and act morally, even if that action went in
- the direct contradiction of military orders or law. I.e., "I was
- only following orders" doesn't excuse a crime.
