- While this issue is immaterial now, there's one point I'll throw
- in:
- I'll admit that it seems that the American public was vastly opposed

- to Baird's confirmation, but number of calls to a Senator's office
- is hardly an accurate reflector of public sentiment. People call
- their Representatives when they're angry about something, but rarely
- when they support.

- And Heaven help the U.S. government if our Senators start voting
- purely on the basis of phone calls to their offices.
