  21. While this issue is immaterial now, there's one point I'll throw 
  22. in: 
  23. I'll admit that it seems that the American public was vastly opposed

  25. to Baird's confirmation, but number of calls to a Senator's office 
  26. is hardly an accurate reflector of public sentiment. People call 
  27. their Representatives when they're angry about something, but rarely
  28. when they support.

  30. And Heaven help the U.S. government if our Senators start voting
  31. purely on the basis of phone calls to their offices.
