  25. In all the research I did for Richard Posner's book on the economics of AIDS,
  26. not once did I come across this figure or anything remotely near it.  Nor 
  27. have I ever seen it in the sci.med.aids postings from the CDC summaries.  
  28. Sounds to me like Jesse Helms is making it up or you misunderstood what he 
  29. actually said.

  31. Of course, you could actually call up the 1-800 number of the CDC and 
  32. confirm or refute it for yourself.  Let us know what they say.
