  22. christopher?"  these people subscribe to the same ol' boy philospophy that has
  23. corrupted washington for generations, and will continue to do so as long as
  24. liberal democrats run congress (which is another bastion of people who 
  25. believe they're above the law that you ever so convienently forgot to mention).

  28. booted.  that ain't the republicans i'm talkin' about either, folks.

  35. if you're talking about dear old george, then i will concur.  i never have been 
  36. a george bush fan, i think he's a member of the republican country club that's
  37. been the closest thing to a loyal opposition we've had over the past twelve 
  38. years.  reagan wasn't bad, but he wasn't the saint rush claims him to be, and
  39. i'm convinced george is a closet liberal who could never come out and admit it
  40. without losing what little support he had within the republican camp.

  42. you're right, tho.  decreasing government waste was never first on george's
  43. agenda.  i voted for him, tho, just because i'm scared to death of clinton.
  44. he doesn't have the religious right "on his side" to keep him straight...

  51. rush ain't going away.  the next four years will only make him stronger because
  52. he's the only straight-talker in the lot of the "dominant media culture" right
  53. now, which makes him credible even when he stretches the truth.  he'll be
  54. challenging jay leno by year's end and up to 20 million listeners on the radio.

  56. as for the tv preachers (and speaking as an evangelical Christian myself), i
  57. think you'll watch the influence of pat robertson and his cronies diminish over
  58. the next four years as the "religious right" (the title we've grudgingly taken
  59. from the "dominant media culture", the title they've grudingly taken from us)
  60. starts to see that more and more the major guys like robertson, falwell, et.al.
  61. are starting to give money more and more importance and God less and less.
  62. money will never take the place of faith and ministry and the evangelicals 
  63. (contrary to how the media likes to picture us) aren't dummies.  i think you'll
  64. see those major personalities who keep God's call ahead of their own - and right
  65. now i'm afraid they only number two, billy graham and james dobson - rise to
  66. prominence in the ministry front, and they will likely stay smart and stay the
  67. heck out of politics.  robertson and falwell are fast losing my support as
  68. political figures.

  70. the moral of the story will turn out to be this:  don't be so quick to call
  71. this an era of change.  four years from now you're going to be just as fed up
  72. with washington as you were when you went to the polls in november, and you're
  73. going to want change and not the same old rhetoric the clinton administration
  74. is shoveling out.  that is why you will vote kemp(/bennett?) in 1996.
