  13. Just a note on getting permission for non-riders to be allowed
  14. to hear dragons on the MUSHes... for the cases of people who want
  15. to say they hear all dragons, period, this seems like an obvious 
  16. requirement and I have no problem with it. I do know, though, that
  17. on SouCon there've been a number of cases where an individual rider
  18. chose, for plot reasons in a specific one-time circumstance, to use
  19. a '*do w *' command to allow a nonrider to hear their dragon on the
  20. given occasion -- usually startling the hell out of the nonrider,
  21. which was part of the point. I've never heard of anyone complaining
  22. as long as (a) it's the rider's choice, not the nonrider who hears,
  23. (b) the riders use some discretion on how much they go around doing
  24. this. I've seen it most often used as part of Search... and yes, the
  25. Candidates who can (accurately, otherwise they *do* get contradicted
  26. by the rider involved) say that their Search dragon talked to them
  27. *do* get looked at by the other Candidates IC as having a better chance
  28. of Impressing for it -- but I think it's safe to say that OOC everyone
  29. knows better than to believe it. I've never heard of that requiring
  30. official permission; as I said, it's generally up to the rider as long
  31. as they don't overuse the privilege and get silly with it. This seems
  32. consistent with the occasions in the books where someone who did not
  33. officially fall into the 'can-talk-to-all-dragons' category had a given
  34. dragon speak to them; it's a different class.
