- ph> }This may be an FTQ, but does anyone have a copy of the Philosophers
- ph> }drinking song? I'm in Philosophy, and a Python fan, and would greatly
- ph> ap }appreciate it if someone would email me a copy of it. Love the
- ph> song }but can never remember more than a verse or two!
- ph> }Thanks!
- ph> (To the tune of "Oh-Tannenbaum", or whatever that song is called...I
- ph> think that's right) :
- ph>
- ph> Philosophy, oh philosophy,
- ph> Oh how I see thee in ja-il.
- ph> Philosophy, oh philosophy,
- ph> You wish you had a ta-il.
- ph>
- ph> You are so big,
- ph> so very big.
- ph> You can not jig,
- ph> and wear a wig.
- ph>
- ph> Oh Philosophy, oh philosophy
- ph> I think I'll go home, and eat a pea.

- This is NOT the song he wants, I'm sure. The Philosopher's
- Drinking Song was sung by The Bruces (Bruce, Bruce, Bruce and
- Bruce) from the Philosophy Department of the University of
- Wooloomooloo. It is given in "Monty Python Sings" as "Bruces'
- Philosophers Song", and goes:
-
- -----
-
- Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
- Who was very rarely stable
- Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
- Who could drink you under the table
- David Hume could out-consume
- Wilhelm Freidrich Hegel
- And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
- Who was just as schloshed as Schegel.
-
- There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya
- 'Bout the raising of the wrist
- Socrates himself was permanently pissed
-
- John Stuart Mill of his own free will
- On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill
- Plato they say could put it away
- Half a crate of whisky every day
- Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle
- Hobbes was fond of his dram
- And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart
- "I drink, therefore I am"
-
- Yes Socrates himself is particularly missed
- A lovely little thinker
- But a bugger when he's pissed.
