- regarding disappointing DelRey covers:
- Is anybody else mad about what they did with the "Sapphire Rose" cover?
- For those of you who may not have seen it, the hardcover jacket was designed
- just like the 1st 2 books: author and title at top, with picture taking up
- approximately 3/4's of the cover. Then on the paperback they blew up the
- author and title to take up 1/2 the cover, added "New York Times bestseller"
- or some such, and on the bottom 1/4 of the cover printed the part of the
- picture that fit.
- I think what bugs me the most is that (almost) everybody who read the first
- two books is going to read the third. This "exploding the author" tactic
- seems like it's aimed at new readers, and they aren't likely to buy a whole
- set of three just 'cause the third was a bestseller - at least *I* wouldn't!
- By the way, how do the Australian/Penguin covers compare to the UK/Corgi
- covers? I prefer the Corgi to the DelRey.
- I like my books to look nice, and I, too, avoid "luscious babes" covers. I
- think the reasoning there is that I avoid luscious babes stories and the
- cover ought to reflect the story.
- Anyway, thanx for letting me vent my frustration!
- Now if only DelRey had email ...
