- In article <1jn1b0INNq17@bigboote.WPI.EDU> you write:
- >No, he went through two different windows. In Restaurant, Zarniwoop
- >was the editor-in-chief of the Guide. In MH, Vann Harl is the
- >editor-in-chief. So, presumably, the window of the editor-in-chief's
- >office in *any* Guide building is a gateway to an artificial universe.
- >Ford only went through that window once.
-
- Hey! What everyone's failing to realise is that the _window_ isn't the
- gateway to the artificial universe. The door is! Witness Roosta's message:
-
- "When you leave this office, go through the window, not the door."
-
- (or something like that.) And also what he (Roosta) said earlier on:
-
- "He's got a whole different universe in his office."
-
- Here's my point. The artificial universe is _in_ the office. The door
- is the gateway between it and the real universe, so when you go through
- the door, and into the office, you're in the artificial universe. The
- reason for Roosta saying "go through the window" was that if Zaphod and
- Marvin had gone through the door, they would have ended up back in the
- _real_ universe!
