  26. As I recall, the song was written by Jim Webb, who wrote Wichata Lineman
  27. and By the Time I get to Pheonix for Glen Campbell (I hope I'm right on
  28. this), among other rather serious-type songs.  Since I've always thought
  29. that MacArthur park is in San Francisco, and this song was written during
  30. the hight of the Haight-Ashbury days, I've always assumed that it was
  31. inspired by a really bad acid trip.
