- As I recall, the song was written by Jim Webb, who wrote Wichata Lineman
- and By the Time I get to Pheonix for Glen Campbell (I hope I'm right on
- this), among other rather serious-type songs. Since I've always thought
- that MacArthur park is in San Francisco, and this song was written during
- the hight of the Haight-Ashbury days, I've always assumed that it was
- inspired by a really bad acid trip.
