- Yeah, like abortion rights, gays in the military, and taxing those with
- incomes greater than $200,000/year?

-
- This is the problem with Republicans: they're so far right they think
- Bush is a moderate. And because of that they think they must have lost
- the election because they didn't nominate someone even further to the
- right. Well keep on thinking that, and the Democrats will own the White
- House for the forseeable future.

-
- A large majority in the U.S. favors abortion rights. It was the
- Reagan/Bush/Quayle regime that was out of touch with the American people
- on this one.
-
- > Tax the American people as much as we can
-
- Unfortunately we have to increase taxes now (even Bush realized that,
- even though he lied about it in the 1988 campaign), because the last
- 12 years of Republican rule ran the country on deficit spending, mortgaging
- the next generation's income to line the pockets of rich businessmen
- and military contractors. If nothing else, history should nail the Reagan
- economic policies for this.

- Reagan/Bush didn't return the money to the people at all.
-

-
- "Everyone"?

-
- The right wing code phrase for opposing discrimination, something this
- country was really founded on (see below).
-
- > degrade, and trivialize the Jewish, and Christian beliefs

-
- What!!??! I defy you to make a case for this. You right-wingers think
- you own the foundations of this country, and therefore its founding
- principles must be the same as yours. Have you even read the Constitution?
- It is mostly a pragmatic document, simply laying out the basis on which
- a practical government was organized. It says absolutely nothing about
- Judeo-Christian "beliefs". It doesn't even mention religion, execept
- in the first Amendment, where "free exercise" of religion (unspecified)
- is guaranteed. This nation's founders were not fundamentalist religious
- types; they were secular humanists from the Age of Enlightenment tradition,
- who believed that government should "promote the general welfare" and
- that religion should be kept separate. The authors of the Constitution
- would be horrified at the attempts of today's Religious Right to inject
- their particular religious beliefs into the politics and laws of this
- country.
-
- > Make sure the Government controls everything
-
- Not everything; each party has their own list of things they want to
- control. The Democrats want to control the economy, while the Republicans
- want to leave it to the businessmen (yes, I mean *men*). The Republicans
- want to control morality, while the Democrats want to leave it to individual
- conscience. Personally, after seeing how leaving the economy to the
- businessmen has left the country, I'll choose the Democrats hands-on
- method there, and hands-off my morality.
-
- > Dictate political correctness (Just spew bull shit)

-
- You mean like you've been doing in this posting.
-
- > And Yes Danno is not that bright,
- > but he's alot brighter than the liberals of today.
-
- Haven't you ever read the QuayleQuotes file?
-
- Well, personally I think it's humorous how the right-wingers have condemned
- the Clinton administration before he's even been in office. When Reagan
- was elected in 1980 I thought it was a black day for the country, that
- he couldn't keep his campaign pledges to cut taxes, raise military spending
- *and* balance the budget, and that the right-wing would attempt to legislate
- their morality on everyone. Turns out I was right, but at least I was
- willing to give him a chance to see what he could do. Today you right-wingers
- are on the other side: you're out of step with the country and the times,
- and you're so rooted in the past that you've closed your mind to even
- the possibility of constructive change. Well, keep thinking that way
- and you'll be outside looking in for a lot of years to come.
