- I'm appalled that the majority of the postings in this group seem to be debating
- the spelling of the author's last name!
-
- I currently have one of his books in front of me, unless the PUBLISHER has his
- name wrong it is spelled "ASPRIN" (I have now triple checked my spelling versus
- the spelling on the book cover, there is not transcription error!)
-
- I currently have THE RANDOM HOUSE COLLEGE DICTIONARY (revised edition) in front
- of me also. (Yes, my desk is getting a bit cluttered.) Under ASPIRIN it has
- "a derivative of salicylic acid, C9H8O4, used to relieve pain; acetylsalicylic
- acid." I have now triple checked the spelling, and there is no listing in the
- dictionary for asprin. Other than those two spellings please don't take my
- spelling to be authoritative. I mangle words regularly, and have never been
- able to fully recall the exceptions to the i before e rule.
-
- Unfortunately I have now added yet another posting to the group about the
- spelling of the author's name!
-
- I shall try to redeem myself.
-
- To avoid confusing the clueless, would it be possible to move this to
- alf.sf.fan.asprin I KNOW that he writes stuff other than SF, but I don't recall
- seeing alt.fantasy.anything .
-
- just a suggestion
-
- Now down to business, I have yet to meet anyone (although that by no means
- proves that they don't exist) who has liked the Phule books better than the
- Myth books. I guess that I just don't identify with Willard Phule (I had to
- look up his first name) the way I do with Skeeve. His very name brings a smile
- to my face. It is all too easy to identify with poor befuddled Skeeve.
-
- Unfortunately my copies of the Myth books are around 3000 miles away, so I can't
- check on the dimension question, so I'll pose my own. I don't like the M.Y.T.H.
- books as much, I feel that not having Skeeve as the narrator really hurts the
- books. Does anyone else out there mirror my opinions? or am I a misguided fool?
-
- Or am I shouting into a vacuum?
