- The first feature on the BBC's populist science programme 'Tomorrow's
- World' of two weeks ago, was a very favourable look at the use of hemp
- for paper, cloth, rope, etc.
-
- They emphasised (and demonstrated) the strength and longevity of hemp
- paper versus conventional wood-pulp paper, as well as mentioning higher
- yield per acre, shorter growth cycles, lower environmental impact, etc.
-
- The plant they showed in the studio has been bred in a government lab to
- contain (paraphrase):
- "very low levels of THC, the chemical that makes you high"
-
- The feature ended with the statement that (a big number, 400?) of hectares in
- France was already under cultivation, and that a campaign was underway
- in Britian to re-legalize the growing of hemp for commercial paper and
- cloth making.
-
- I didn't catch the name of the organization (if there is one, or if it was mentioned)
-
- I guess you might be able to get hold of a tape or transcript of the programme
- by contacting the BBC.
-
- Cheers
