  12.         The Internet Drug-Price Project

  14. Have you ever wondered how the prices of controlled substances vary
  15. the world over?  Or what effect law-enforcement efforts have on the
  16. price, availability, and quality of drugs?  Available data on
  17. illicit-substance availability is sparse and often regional.  Here's
  18. your chance to help find the answers to these questions.

  20. What you need to do is send me current, accurate information on
  21. illicit substances in your area.  Every month or so, or more often
  22. if data volume permits, I'll post a summary to alt.drugs.  If
  23. someone with an ftp site allows it, I'll put cumulative data there.
  24. (Yeah, I'm ripping off _High_Times_' THMQ.  Think I should send them
  25. a copy of the data each month?)

  27. Although possession of such knowledge is neither illegal nor
  28. incriminating, you may prefer to send it anonymously.  You can
  29. put an "X-Anon-To: ebrandt@jarthur.claremont.edu" header in mail to
  30. anon@anon.penet.fi, or mail to
  31. ebrandt%jarthur.claremont.edu@anon.penet.fi  if you can't add
  32. headers.  Mail received nonymously will be sanitized by deleting all
  33. but the Date: header.  You may wish to encrypt mail before letting
  34. it leave your machine; see my .sig if you have PGP.

  36. What I want:
  37.    o  For people to participate!  Come on, I'm sure you've heard
  38.       something on the subject.
  39.  
  40.    o  Any identifying features.
  41.    o  Price.  Mention the total quantity, too.
  42.    o  Quality/description.
  43.    o  Availability.
  44.    o  Location.  
  45.    o  Approximate date of purchase or offer.
  46.  
  47.    o  Accurate information.  Rumors about a friend of a friend's aunt 
  48.       who made some great buy are useless.  If this was an offer
  49.       instead of an actual purchase, mention that.
  50.    o  Information on substances that will probably not be heavily
  51.       reported upon, such as exotica and "hard" drugs.
  52.    o  Data from places that will be undercovered -- anywhere but the
  53.       U.S., probably.

  55. What I don't want:
  56.    o  Specific information on how to score.  This is not a tourist
  57.       guide; it's a sociological research project.
  58.    o  Legal hassles.  Look, DEA buddies, you collect this kind of
  59.       data yourself.  If you don't, I'm doing your work for you.

  61. Send me a data point every so often!  This will only work if you
  62. make it work.  Wouldn't it be interesting to have information on
  63. global trends in price, quality, and availability?  To kick this
  64. off, I'll take historical data as well, for a better picture of
  65. trends.  (Tell me how good your memory is, though...)
