- Not only criminals profit from the illegality of drugs. Law enforcement
- agents and prosecuting attorneys benefit as well as the pharmaceutical
- industry. Tobacco and alcohol companies also profit from the fact that
- pot, cocaine, and others are illegal, since the public will stay addicted to
- THEIR drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if any of these groups would resort to
- violence to stop an effective politician who advocates the legalization of
- drugs.
