- It can be either amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite. The amyl nitrite is
- usually iso-amyl nitirite, but I'm not sure about butyl nitrite. It could
- be n-butyl or sec-butyl, but I don't think they use tert-butyl for this.
- It's a vasoDILATOR. It causes the blood vessels in the head to dilate,
- therby reducing the pressure to the head because oflack od arterial tone,
- causing that dizzy, "like-you-got-up-off-the-couch-too-quickly" feeling.
- (Same effect really...) Not good for asthma sufferers or people who get
- migraine headaches frequently.
