- }Okay, here's the question. I'm pretty sure that disregarding other
- }variables, 1/3 to 1/2 the time the second cup of coffee puts me right to
- }sleep. I mean literally, I have to take a nap in my office for about 30
- }minutes. Does anyone know of any study backing these observations? Of
- }course, we all know the power and lack thereof of perceptions. I could be
- }wrong, but I'm pretty sure the coffee is knocking me out however
- }inconsistently.
-
- I don't know of studies, but I can vouch for the fact that caffiene can have
- a depressant effect -- to wit, I used to be a heavy coffee drinker (I consider
- six to seven cups of double-and-a-half strength instant a day to be quite
- heavy) -- I'd find that near the end of a day I was getting quite "bummed
- out" after a cup. I'd almost go completely switch-off for a half an hour
- or so, and I'd be almost useless for anything requiring rapid thought. Of
- course, there may be other reasons for this related to high caffiene levels --
- this is evidently different from the amounts you're experiencing.
-
- I stopped drinking coffee (except socially) a few months ago -- I drink
- tea instead, and I find that I can think again... *all* the time, now!
