  19. No, no, no.  When War Memorial was torn down, it was replaced (well, actually
  20. it's being replaced) with an athletic complex: track, practice fields, etc. 
  21. These facilities will be used in the World University Games this July.

  23. The Dodge/Jefferson and Best/Jefferson entrances to the Rockpile remain, and
  24. will be incorporated into the new design.

  26. Someone a few posts back suggested that Freddies Doughnuts was converted to a
  27. NFTA bus barn.  Likewise, not so.  Freddies remains intact, and in fact, about
  28. two weeks ago, realtor's signs appeared on the building (I can provide the
  29. number of "Zipp's Realty" if anyone needs to own this bit of Buffalo history--I
  30. go by it every morning!).  A new bus barn *is* being built nearby, immediately
  31. south of the old (100 year!) Cold Spring Bus Garage, on Michigan.  (Yes, there
  32. were no buses 100 years ago--it began life as a *real* barn for horse-drawn
  33. trolleys.)  I shed a tear every time I remember those cherry frycakes from
  34. Freddies; they will never be equaled.
