- No, no, no. When War Memorial was torn down, it was replaced (well, actually
- it's being replaced) with an athletic complex: track, practice fields, etc.
- These facilities will be used in the World University Games this July.
-
- The Dodge/Jefferson and Best/Jefferson entrances to the Rockpile remain, and
- will be incorporated into the new design.

- Someone a few posts back suggested that Freddies Doughnuts was converted to a
- NFTA bus barn. Likewise, not so. Freddies remains intact, and in fact, about
- two weeks ago, realtor's signs appeared on the building (I can provide the
- number of "Zipp's Realty" if anyone needs to own this bit of Buffalo history--I
- go by it every morning!). A new bus barn *is* being built nearby, immediately
- south of the old (100 year!) Cold Spring Bus Garage, on Michigan. (Yes, there
- were no buses 100 years ago--it began life as a *real* barn for horse-drawn
- trolleys.) I shed a tear every time I remember those cherry frycakes from
- Freddies; they will never be equaled.
