- I just saw "Who's that knocking..." on German TV, celebrating Scorsese's
- 50th birthday. It was a brand-new, dubbed(!) version, after it had been
- shown several times with subtitles. Of course I would have preferred that!
-
- Anyway, I loved it!!! Scorsese plays around with all the techniques he learned
- at NYU (if I'm informed correctly), so you get a bit of everything.
- Keitel is as great as ever (isn't he actually better than DeNiro??).
-
- The story is kind of an early "Mean Streets". It's shot in b+w and
- (one scene) color, partially 16mm, mostly 35mm. It took more than four
- years to finish because they kept running out of money.
- There's one sex scene they had to add (in Amsterdam) in order to find
- a distributor.
-
- Go out and get it! It tells you a lot about Scorsese, you see Keitel as
- a very young man and all in all I liked it better than the so much more famous
- "Mean Streets".
