- That's funny, I felt exactly the opposite. That MBD was Great and RD was Good.
- RD is easilly one of the best film I've seen in the last 12 months but MBD
- is one of the best I've ever seen.
-
- I felt that because of the tight scripting etc. of RD the film was entertaining
- but that was it. At the end of the movie I had been entertained and notched
- up another plus point against Harvey Keitels name and entered Tarantino into
- the register of my 'directors to watch' list. But it just struck me as
- another, (albeit a good one), Hollywood flick. And the actors were variations
- on the gangster theme.
-
- MBD was a movie that drew me into itself. In particular the scenes with
- the REAL parents of one of the stars, I found myself thinking, that's the way
- my parents would act if I turned up at their front door with a documentary
- crew behind me. In another scene, where Benoit got plastered, I saw myself
- as I am when I too am embarressingly drunk.
-
- But it's not just the contents of the movie that pulled me in, it was the
- technique. For example when we're running with Remy's crew in the deserted
- factory/warehouse and the camera was shaking to the point where it was
- difficult to see any action clearly. At first you find this scene hard going
- but then you're forced to compensate for the shakes with your own focusing
- mechanisms, your eyes. BRILLIANT, (IMHO)
