  11. This just in:       "GUNMAN KILLS 2 NEAR C.I.A. ENTRANCE"

  15. On January 25th (Monday) two people were killed and three wounded by a 
  16. rifle-carrying gunman outside the C.I.A.'s McLean, Virginia headquarters.
  17. The man opened fire on a line of cars outside the main gate, hitting several
  18. cars and then escaping in a station wagon.  Officials have not ruled out
  19. any possiblities in the investigation.  Senator Robert C. Smith (NH) was only
  20. 50 feet away from the gunman, and reported the man "coolly and methodically,
  21. with no emotion, no expression and no words, simply fired at point-blank
  22. range into the windows, at these people."  Contradictory claims by other
  23. eyewitnesses, however, say that the man was firing wildly, "like he wanted 
  24. to kill," and indicate that this was a random incident.

  26. The C.I.A. announced that all of the dead and wounded were either full-time
  27. or contract employees of the agency.
