  25. Do you admit the possibility, Ted, that there might be a multicultural
  26. banking Mafia?  If there is no evidence that there is one, is there any
  27. evidence that there is not one?

  29. The reason I ask, my understanding of human nature--and bankers are
  30. human--leads me to believe that there would be such a thing unless it
  31. was specifically prevented.  Why?  Because it would be good for profits.

  33. Doesn't the BCCI scandal demonstrate that such a thing can happen?  How
  34. can we be sure that BCCI was the whole problem?  Maybe it was just the
  35. tip of the iceberg?

  37. Are not the rich and powerful just as tempted to break the rules,
  38. commit crimes, as the man in the street?  If I have no proof of a
  39. bankers conspiracy, maybe it is because bankers are even better at
  40. getting away with their crimes than drug pushers are.

  42. Even if we cannot prove that a drug lord is operating in the
  43. neighborhood, the fact that there is widespread drug use constitutes
  44. proof that somebody is pushing drugs.  We may have no evidence, but we
  45. can see the results.

  47. So it is with criminal bankers.  We may have no evidence with which to
  48. convict.  But we can see the results all around us.  Excuse me, SOME of
  49. us can see the results.  Others are as willfully ignorant as the tobacco
  50. lobbyists that still deny there is any proof that tobacco causes
  51. cancer.
