-
- My answers: 1) If the United States is incorporated into a global
- superstate, as I maintain the CFR and the Trilateral Commission are
- trying to promote, our nation would lose its sovereignty and our
- citizens would lose the Constitutional protections of their most basic
- rights because the charter of the superstate (UN charter?) would
- supercede it. 2) The growing power of the United Nations and the
- dwindling influence of the U.S. Constitution in national and
- international affairs ought to be evidence enough for anyone who really
- wants to see the problem. For one who does not want to see the problem,
- probably no amount of evidence will persuade. How do we prove that
- trees are taller than grass? One can always produce a very short tree
- with a very tall blade of grass. 3) FOREIGN AFFAIRS is NOT sinister IF
- you approve of what Henry Kissenger and Lawrence Eagleburger, et al are
- trying to do in the world. If you do not approve of the emergence of a
- world superstate and the trashing of the U.S. Constitution, then
- FOREIGN AFFAIRS is sinister because it is the official publication of
- that elitist organization in this country most devoted to a so-called
- New World Order.
-
- What about the YALE LAW JOURNAL? I know nothing of the YALE LAW
- JOURNAL. I am not an attorney or a Yale alumnus. But I see no reason
- why FOREIGN AFFAIRS and YALE LAW JOURNAL both, could not be promoting
- the incorporation of the United States into a world superstate at the
- expense of national sovereignty and our Constitution.
-
- Let me hurry to add that I believe many of those who desire a world
- superstate, a so-called New World Order, are good and decent men who want
- nothing more than an end to war and a peaceful international
- marketplace. Who could begrudge them that? These are noble desires. I
- applaud them for such.
-
- But I and many others believe a world superstate is a pipe dream. It
- could only be accomplished at the expense of U.S. sovereignty and the
- Constitution. It would certainly result in a global dictatorship
- reminiscent of that portrayed in Orwell's novel, 1984 or BRAVE NEW WORLD
- by Aldous Huxley.
-
- In the real world there seems to be a tradeoff between peace and
- freedom. It is very difficult to have both at the same time. Some
- consider peace the ultimate good even if it means slavery for all
- mankind. Others feel that freedom is the ultimate good even if it
- means there is no solution to the problem of war.
