  24. As far as rec.arts.books be concerned, Eric Forbis is certainly right.
  25. However, there obviously is no such group as alt.erotica and it probably
  26. will never exist. I think that I nevertheless know what Eric means ;-),
  27. but still: shouldn't you check your assertions first before you make such
  28. a proposal, Eric?

  36. 1) I am not totally sure that a newsreader is easier to use than a mailbox.
  37. 2) Visibility: do you earnestly think that a bunch of new readers will inun-
  38.    date the Anne Rice fandom - readers that *did not* previously read

  40. 3) Access: I might be mistaken, and I am willing to learn. However, it was
  41.    my impression that there might be more people who had access to email
  42.    than to the Usenet(News) - just think of the whole BITNET world.

  47. Oops - I feel I might not quite fit your criteria. Sorry :-).

  49. But, now, earnestly, even though I might just be repeating what Tim Pierce
  50. and myself have written earlier: the better way would be to start a
  51. mailing list which, if traffic warrants it, could then easily be converted
  52. into a newsgroup. Just remember, please, that an existing Anne Rice
  53. mailing list (manager was a US lady named Nicole or Nicolette) was closed
  54. down sometime in the mid of last year for * lack of traffic *.
  55.    I just feel that the alt.hierarchy is clogged up enough already.
