- Actually, the Brother Jed rebirth story has three parts:
-
- 1) Stoned naked hippie in Morocco (following CSNY "Marrakesh Express" as
- a guide) considering going to India and finding a guru. An Arab carrying
- a cross comes up and starts preaching, and Jed and co. harass him, but
- the message gets through to our hero.
-
- 2) A Doobie Brothers concert (They aren't brothers, Jed warns, and their names
- aren't "Doobie."), the song "Jesus is Just All Right" has just finished
- going over the loudspeaker, and Jed, stoned out of his gourd, hops up on
- stage and harangues the crowd.
-
- 3) Burger King -- a more spiritually mature fellow, convinces Jed to put his
- faith in Jesus, and there is a subsequent baptism. "I met the King of Kings
- in the Burger King!"
-
- Hope this clears things up for you.
-
- I find it interesting that Jim, too, was saved at a rock & roll concert whilst
- under the influence (he's younger; thus Van Halen instead of Doobies).
-
- Perhaps the dope, noise, flashpots, crowds can set one off. I've heard of
- bright lights triggering epileptic seizures, and drugs inducing religious
- mania, etc. I'll be extra careful next time I show up to a Dead show stoned.
- ('twould explain all those Jerry worshippers, though...)

- When Jim Bakker received his 45-year prison sentence, Jessica Hahn (who
- precipitated his downfall by publicizing her sexual encounter with him) said,
- "Stiff as it was, it wasn't long enough."
