  24. The thing that amazes me is these four nameless, faceless people never
  25. surface in the local panix newsgroups with comments on the order of
  26. magnitude of Andrew Ruskin... There's ALWAYS dialog about "problems" --
  27. Some of the problems, albeit a low percentage, a bona fide system problems
  28. and a promptly (IMHO) addressed by the support crew at panix. Most of the
  29. "problems" are user-related -- "how do I do this?" type questions ranging
  30. from very inexperienced users just venturing in UNIX to the highly
  31. technical. And you know what? I haven't seen one question that went
  32. unanswered...

  34. I'm just miffed at Andrew Raskin's comments. But, then again Timothy Leary
  35. sums it up -- "Fiction versus non-fiction isn't significant. It's all
  36. fiction, all just viewpoints. What is history but differing perspectives
  37. about times past?"

  39. If we don't digress into the past and focus on the present, I think there's
  40. some great things going on at panix! Alexis mentioned some of the upgrades
  41. to the system, but he forgot to mention:

  43. o    The panix.hunt team won the January Internet Hunt! 
  44. o    We're also a bunch of social animals -- triple the number of people 
  45.     expected showed up at the panix Christmas party. There's another 
  46.     party in the plans in the next few weeks...

  48. So... Bottom line is Andrew Ruskin isn't quite in touch with the present
  49. and seems to have NO IDEA what the panix system is today.
