  37. Thanks for the rape reference.  There are a few others, but that is 
  38. probably the best.

  40. In addition, read Judges 11:29 to 11:39.  If memory serves, it is about
  41. Jephthah, (or something like that) who was leading his troops into battle.
  42. He was in serious difficulty and promised God that, if he won the battle,
  43. he would sacrifice the first thing that he saw when he returned home.  A
  44. few days later, he sacrificed his only child.

  46. Then there is the story of that fellow whom God wanted to test.  God
  47. told him to sacrifice his son.  So he did.  I don't even remember the 
  48. names on this story, but there are actually two versions with different
  49. names.  In one version, God tortures the father, but eventually lets the
  50. child live.  Anyone want to help me out with this one?
