  15. would suggest that, instead of looking for someone to read your
  16. chart, that you learn how to do it...and get it read by others along
  17. the way.  Most areas of the country have new age bookstores, which
  18. are a focal point for astrologers and others.  Most will have areas
  19. with flyers and business cards, and often bulletin boards with
  20. classes.  In many areas, groups such as AFA (American Federation of
  21. Astrologers), NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research), and
  22. others have monthly or even weekly meetings open to all for a
  23. nominal fee of between $3-$5 (Check the topic cause sometimes they
  24. bring in tarot or handwriting lecturers instead of astrologers).

  26. First try going to meetings to get some of the buzzwords.  If you
  27. can get just your chart done (not the whole interpretation) for
  28. about $5, all the better cause you might find the lecturer
  29. discussing parts of it (for free).  There should be quite a few
  30. astrologers of varying ability, from whom you could choose a likely
  31. candidate to do your chart and reading.  You might find someone
  32. from whom to take a class.  The class will probably cost about the
  33. same as a reading, except you spend more time.  And you will almost
  34. always get your chart read during the classes, and get to see
  35. readings for others.  And learn how to do your own.

  37. If all that fails, then just look at all the ads, and before putting
  38. any money down, ask the rates, how long a reading you will get,
  39. whether it will be just natal or include transits and/or
  40. progressions, and whether they have any professional certification
  41. (AFA and NCGR both conduct certification tests).  Certification only
  42. says that they know the fundamentals well enough to pass tests, not
  43. that they are inspired or emotionally compatible with you or conduct
  44. a reading on a level you prefer.  I recommend trying to find a way
  45. to get to know them before deciding to have them do your chart.
