-
- A solar chart is one with the sun on the ascendent, which is where
- the sun will be at (roughly) 6am. (And it will be at the midheaven
- at noon and the immum coeli at midnight.)
-
- "Pretty accurate" is a rather relative term. True, some astrologers
- do place various planets on the ascendent to look at planetary house
- positions relative to that planet, and true that before the age of
- induced births a higher percentage of children were born around
- sunrise. But the sun is on the ascendent only if you are on
- standard time and the place of birth is exactly on the longitudinal
- meridian for the time zone, otherwise the sun could be several
- hours removed from the ascendent.
-
- Another suggestion is to use a noon birth, put the sun on the
- midheaven, forget about houses (or at most use equal house and
- don't use it much) and realize the moon could be five or six degrees
- either way and the inner planets a degree off. Roughly, you are
- getting a chart good(?) for anyone in the world born on that day.
