- Hello all,
- I'm currently buying a new house, and like I've always said, when I
- bought a house, I was going to buy some larger tanks. I currently have a
- 30g mini-reef going that has been very successful. What I'm planning on
- doing is buying a 75g tank, stand, and glass top. I'm also planning on
- buying an Amiricle 150 W/D filter for the new tank. I'll fill the tank,
- cycle with damsels or a "loaner" grouper or eel, and when it's cycled
- move my fish, anenomes, corals, and live rock into the new tank. I'll
- also move my 24" counter current skimmer to the new tank.
- Here are some questions that I have:
-
- I'm currently using 3 24" flourescent tubes in my 30g tank. They are all
- installed in triton reflectors. I was considering using 4 48", 40W tubes
- for the new tank. Enough light? Should I consider halides? Anyone know
- where to get a 4 bulb system like above cheaply? Anyone know where to
- get those halide systems with the 2 flourescent tubes cheaply? I've seen
- Coralife stuff like that advertised for $400-600!
-
- What kind of pump is sufficient for the Amiricle filter. My friend
- mentioned using one of the Little Giant units. Any good/bad experiences
- with the Amiricle 150?
-
- Well that's about it. I've never really played with a w/d filter
- before, so I wanted to give it a shot. I'm going to want to set up
- another tank (more fancy) for my living room in another year or so.
- Another friend of mine convinced me to go with just a protein skimmer on
- that one. I thought about doing the skimmer only on the new 75g, but I'd
- like to learn a bit about standard w/d systems first. Thanks for any
- advice anyone can offer.
