  25. Peter, I very much take exception to this.  I thought you were better
  26. informed.  I, as an engineer, know many engineers who love Star Trek for
  27. the moral, ethical, political and human rights issues it consistently
  28. raises with a thin veneer of sci-fi, and I'll bet if you surveyed the 
  29. engineers at the Chelmsford plant, you'd find an awful lot of other Trekkers.
  30. Star Trek derives many of its themes from Shakespeare, and many of the 
  31. actors are Shakespearean.  I am not sure there IS such a thing as an 
  32. average Star trek viewer.  As has been told many times, it runs the gamut
  33. from children to NASA rocket scientists.  I consider myself to be very well
  34. read, and I don't mean sci-fi.  Television is an eye on our society, and
  35. Star Trek represents humankinds best hopes and dreams for a future we
  36. can be proud of.  If that's what you call lowbrow, so be it.  Thanks for
  37. your opinions, but you're WRONG!

  41. like this!
