- Well, thanks to the help of people in this newsgroup, I got my
- serial port configured properly so I could hook a terminal up to my
- PDP-11/34a... However, there seems to be something trapped inside
- a boot ROM and I am wondering what it is... WhenI connect a terminal
- to my PDP and turn the computer on, the RUN lamp comes on and I get,

- pressing any two keys makes it display

- And any time I press two keys after that, I get the same line. Is this
- some sort of debugger or what? The @ appears to be some sort of prompt
- for something but I don't know what. I got the machine 3rd or 4th hand.
- There are 4 PROMs on the Bootstrp board. One apparently is a terminal
- emulator and the others are mysterious non-factory PROMs. When I got the
- machine, it came with a 2-drive SMD controller, Console Card, Terminal Card,
- Bootstrap Card, Processor Cards, and two mystery cards. The first one has
- 2 50-Pin connectors on the top of it and is labeled, "ASSY NO 1409683 \n
- MASTER BUS I/F \n SCHEMATIC - 1409685" The board is very organized and
- spaced out. Everything is socketed and in rows/columns. The Board is
- labeled by chip row from the bottom up, "A B C D E F" and across,
- "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11" If anyone could give me even the slightest
- clue what this board does, I would really appreciate it.
- The second mystery board is not as mysterious, it is labeled,
- "MENU/TABLET INTERFACE \n ASSY NO 1409716 \n SCHEMATIC 140" It appears
- to be made by the same company. It is also very organized and laid out
- with the lettering "A-E" up the rows and "1 - 16" across the columns.
- The DIP banks have little labels beside them indicating BAUD rates
- for the MENU and or TABLET, ADDRs, and VECT. (Why can't all boards have
- this) On the top of the board is a 19 PIN connector. Are there
- any practical uses for this board? What used to be hooked up to it?
- I noticed that it has 2 RCA CDP1854CD 910 chips on it which I seem
- to remember being processors of some sort. Anyways, if anyone could
- give me any ideas what either of these boards are good for, I would
- really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

- Oh!! I nearly forgot! Does anyone out there happen to have
- manuals for the ACD/01 DISK CONTROLLER? It's a 2 drive SMD controller.
- If you have one or know someone that does, I would be willing to pay
- a reasonable amount for it.
