-
- There is a solution for this problem.
-
- The facts...
- When you start Eudora the first time, it creates a folder called 'Eudora
- folder' in the System folder. This folder contains the Eudora parameters
- file and any incoming and stored mails.
-
-
- Solution...
- Each user should have it's own Eudora folder. There should be a restricted
- access to this folder and it should be accessible for various Macintosh.
-
-
- solution 1í
-
- Put the Eudora folder on a Disquette. Each user holding and managing it's
- own disquette. To read your mail, put your disquette in a Macintosh, double
- click the parameter file and there you go... You may keep a copy of the
- Eudora program on each Mac or one copy on each disquette.
- This is ok, cheap and simple.
- BUT disquette access is slow and disquette are frequently (much much more
- than hard disks) subject to crashes.
-
- solution 2í
-
- run a macintosh as a file server. Put it in a secure place. User connects
- to the mac through Apple share and so we have access restriction. In the
- personnal "volume" the user have it's private Eudora folder. He clicks on
- the parmater file and then he goes.
-
-
- We use a VAX with Pathworks as file server. It is fast and reliable.
-
- For a remote mail consultation, the user and you will need Appletalk remote
- connection. An Eudora capable of working an a modem line is currently being
- developped. I fact, I've heard of it, but don't know in what stage it is.
-
- Feel free to ask more questions if any.
-
- Happy mailing.
