  13. I'm a bit pussled with some data out of my system, but it might be, that I'm
  14. completely off track with that...
  15. Ok, let's see. I have VMS 5.5-2 on my system and i try some tricks with the
  16. OPCOM-process.
  17. This time I'd like to fiddle with it's UCB.
  18. The UCB's address, according to the internals book is stored in SYS$AR_OPCMBX.
  19. Formatting the data there shows indeed the uCB of MBA2, thus the OPCOM-mbx.
  20. Well, but... according to the internals book, there should always be a read-
  21. request pending with an read-attention ast. Thus, the UCB-fields UCB$L_IRP 
  22. and UCB$L_MB_R_AST must not be zero. Even the UCB$V_BSY should be set (I 
  23. might be wrong here!).
  24. But the data shows me an empty IRP-list, no read-attention AST, no 
  25. write-attention AST and an idle UCB, the mbx is online...
  26. So my question is, where is that read-request from OPCOM ????
  27. But, again, I might be completely wrong with my interpretation of the 
  28. internals book :-)

  30. BTW, another little thing, why are the fields PHD$L_WSEXTENT and 
  31. PHD$L_WSQUOTA (the process extent quota and process quota fields, I 
  32. might misspell the names) always showing 104 pages more than the 
  33. UAF-entry allowes for the process ?
  34. This happens on VMS5.5-1 as well and on very different machines (uVAX II 
  35. versus 8600 and 6310).
  36. Please give me some light and thank you for that.
