  16. I have been informed that some news sites do not tolerate checkgroups
  17. messages well, so I will no longer send them. From now on I will post this
  18. message once per month. Included below is a checkgroups message that you
  19. can apply to your own system. Simply extract this message into a file,
  20. delete everything up to and including the "--- Cut Here ---" line, and feed
  21. the resulting file to ANU News with the command:

  23. news/noscreen add file/genid file-name
  24.  
  25. where file-name is the name of the file you have created. News will create
  26. a command file to correct any errors it finds in the configuration of the
  27. vmsnet groups and mail it to the news manager.
  28.  
  29. If instead of the above command you enter:
  30.  
  31. news/noscreen add file/execute/genid file-name
  32.  
  33. News will create correct any errors it finds immediately, and mail to the
  34. news manager a list of the actions it took.
  35.  
  36. NOTE: if you are running a version of ANU News earlier than 6.0-3 (or 6.0-2
  37. with patches posted to the net on 1/31/91 by Bill Glass), the /GENID
  38. qualfier is not supported, and is not needed. Simply leave it off.
